This morning the campus was in “lock down.” All the classes were cancelled, all the administration buildings were shutdown. Somebody reported that a person roaming around the campus with an assault rifle and a cannister on the man’s waist. This prompted the school to shut down and search the sprawling university grounds 20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. Apparently, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says someone mistook a ROTC student practicing with a fake rifle to be an armed gunman. False alarm. Follow this link if for any reason you’re in a situation like this and I hope you won’t.

Tags: abraham maslow's hierarchy of needs, motivating, motivation, self actualization
If you think that pyramid right there is the symbol for Daft Punk, you’re partially correct, but not quite. If you have no idea what it is, more than likely that was the day you ditched school and had an intimate moment with your bong, dealing with your personal issues, or what have you. This post is to remind myself and encourage you to step up and stop waiting for whatever you’re waiting for. What I am trying to say is to simply stop procastinating, quit thinking that there’s enough time tomorrow. Keep motivating yourself to achieve what you’ve been procastinating, whether to lose some weight, finish school, get a masteral degree, find that perfect job you’ve been dreaming of, or whatever you need to accomplish.
Most of you know that pyramid is Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, Motivation, and Personality. This theory he developed remains valid today for understanding human motivation, management training, and personal development. Maslow stresses that the hierarchy states that we must satisfy each need in turn, starting with the first, which deals with the most obvious for survival itself. If the things that satisfy our lower order needs are swept away, we are no longer concerned about the maintenance of our higher order needs. We all know self-actualization is our personal growth and fullfilment, and these comes from our achievement, status, responsibility, and reputation in life. It’s a long way up there from the bottom. We tap self-fullfilment once in awhile, but comes back down right away. Enable for us to stay up there is to achieve our goals in life, that’s if you have one. What are your goals? Not everybody has the same goals in life, but whatever that might be for you, try to reach for it before it’s too late and start chasing it.
You better do something now, because the world doesn’t owe you anything. It would be helpful if you map out and start rationalizing why you feel stuck, and then apply a useless cliche’ on how you can fix your divine self. Doing something meaningful towards your goal will lead you to the next step. Doing anything in a fresh direction will spark the inertia needed to create momentum. Set your mind towards something and everything will fall into place. Trust me. I challenged you to do something today, it’s a much more exciting conversation than talking about doing nothing.

“After revolutionizing our mornings with deliciousness that can only be achieved through state-of-the-art “warming technology” that succeeds in both heating eggs to the perfect temperature as well as exquisitely toasting the edges of the world’s largest English muffins, Starbucks has announced that it’s returning to its roots, and will no longer serve the Breakfast Sandwich. What will kick off our road trips? What will encourage us to come to work on Friday mornings? How can we go back to getting our morning protein in a latte? Starbucks must be told that we won’t back down. If it doesn’t feed us, what will?”
A friend sent me an invite a week ago to this “Save the Starbucks Breakfast Sandwich“ group on facebook. The paragraph on top is the group’s description. I didn’t know people can get so dedicated when it comes to their breakfast. I must say, I was a bit intrigued about this whole breakfast sandwich craze. So this morning, I made sure I have time to stop by and grab one myself before I get to work. I just finished pounding this so called breakfast sandwich. After further ingestion, I must say I wasn’t satisfied, but nonetheless I’m full. The sandwich is rather bland for my taste, chewing the bread is like chewing a gum. I know the sandwich is almost gone, but don’t be so conclusive, I’m just hungry. I will now carry this burden for the rest of the day.

I don’t think my body can no longer sustained any intoxicating substances. It has been a fun weekend. The drinks and cocktails won’t stop flowing, so as the fun laughs and mockeries among the guys will never change, long story. The planned of studying for the weekend has turned into updating this blog for the entire day. I should opt on studying tomorrow, i hope. I really need to switch my gears concerning how tough my classes are. The crucial logical problems of equivalent ratios will not suffice my ways of cramming. The courses I have this semester can not be cheated by last minute studying. I really need to start and get the ball rolling.

One thing I accomplished today, although not as important, I’ve finished creating my own domain. The alarming stories I read on this article and many other articles regarding blogspot.com made my decision easy. I don’t see any reason why people should not own their own domains. You will later realized you’ve created pages of blog consisting of some of your unforgetable thoughts and memories in writing, but one morning you wake up and it’s no longer there. Because some guy sitting in some headquarters eating cheese puffs hovering around the delete button. If your blog gets deleted, that would leave a mark of regret. Get your own domain, it’s easy and inexpensive. All you need to know is on this blog. Cheers to blogging!
New York City + Snowboarding = It can’t/won’t get any better than this.
Large crowds gathered in Union Square, NYC on Thursday, Feb. 7th to view The Jeep® Union Square Street Sessions as the event returned to New York City for a second year of competition. Athletes competed in for a $30,000 purse by riding over a Red Bull designed wall, a down bar with stairs and a gap which led to a rail set up over a Jeep Rubicon,. The event was run in partnership with NYC Parks & Recreation and the New York City Sports Commission.

Yesterday, seems to be the beginning of an end to this cold weather. This weather just can’t wait to move forward. What frustrates me even more is that it’s so warm yesterday and the heater here in the office was still on. Now, two of my co-workers called in sick, not to mention my throat is acting up and my eyes have been dry since yesterday. I’m a little under the weather myself. I feel like going home, but here I am writing a freaking blog. It was so sunny and warm yesterday, right now it’s gloomy. A medium precipitation would help me cheer up. It reminds me of Seattle, I love that city. I know California weather is unpredictable, but being this warm in early February?-that’s a drastic change.
Last year’s Coachella was pretty good. Although, it wasn’t as fun as the previous year, since last year I worked through a set for two bands. This year is going to kick some serious behind. We’re trying to shoot for three straight days, but we’ll see. If you don’t know whose playing, well, you’re missing out and better check it. The only downer to me is that they split up all the EdBanger’s crew in different days, though, it’s still going to be epic.

Last night, I got a text message from a friend asking if I’d like to join them for some drinks and dinner. I said no, because I’m watching LOST, she text me back with an “lol?” What’s the best thing to do on a thursday night? Watch LOST!

Ken Leung “Miles”, Rebecca Mader “Charlotte”, Jeffy Fahey “Lapidus”, Jeremy Davies “Faraday”
Last night’s episode focused on the introduction of four new characters from the Freighter (including actor Jeremy Davies who we saw at the conclusion of last week’s episode), and their true intentions as it relates to the Island. I knew that chick Naomi couldn’t be trusted the first time she came in the island, my instincts are correct like Locke. To me it seems like the “survivors” replaced the role of the “others” in terms of surviving and protecting themselves.
The survivors questioned the intentions of their supposed rescuers when four strangers arrive on the island. What did they get? “We’re here for Benjamin.” That’s all we get and no other type of hints. Way to give us minimal information, way to pump this season’s episodes. Like most people I just can’t get enough of LOST.

KEN LEUNG “Miles”: Lost executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse created the role of Miles specifically for New York City native Ken Leung after catching his live-wire performance as Uncle Junior’s unstable protégé in The Sopranos last year. Before signing on to the super-secret ABC series, though, the actor — who also played the porcupine-esque Kid Omega in X-Men: The Last Stand — called up Cuse and attempted to pry some info out of him. “After our conversation,” Leung admits, “I was still more or less blind.” Allow us to fine-tune the picture: Miles, like The Sopranos’ Carter, is a hothead, but he’s a uniquely gifted one. “He’s after something he can get on the island,” Leung reveals. “Or somebody.” The part has proven easy in one respect. “Miles doesn’t know how to be social, which is great,” Leung says, “because I don’t know how to be social.”
REBECCA MADER “Charlotte”:Lost’s lone new girl, Rebecca Mader, wants to be treated like one of the boys. “People see me as a girlie-girl because I’m always in full-on hair, makeup and heels in everything I do,” groans the actress, who made fashionable appearances in The Devil Wears Prada and Fox’s short-lived 2006 series Justice. “I was sick of it. I have this tomboy side, and I really wanted to do action stuff.” Wish granted: One of Mader’s first Lost scenes found her hanging upside down from a tree. “I was so happy!” she exclaims. Likewise, her character, Charlotte — who was changed from American to British after producers met the English-born actress — is thrilled about her arrival on the island. Maybe too thrilled. Could Charlotte prove to be nefarious? “Tune in, baby,” Mader says with a laugh. “It’s gonna be good!”
JEFF FAHEY “Lapidus”: Jeff Fahey hadn’t seen one episode of Lost before landing on the Emmy-winning drama. But that’s because the veteran actor (The Lawnmower Man and the ’90s series The Marshal) had taken a hiatus from Hollywood to work with orphanages in Afghanistan. While it’s a pursuit the soft-spoken Fahey is passionate about, it’s not one he’s particularly eager to expound upon: “I don’t want [it] to take focus from the show.” He’s chattier about playing bushy-bearded Lapidus, the pilot of the helicopter responsible for bringing the freighter folks to the island. “It’s a dream job,” he says, “especially for someone who’s been kicking around so long.” And an experience, Fahey claims, that really isn’t so different from his recent off-screen endeavors. “It’s fascinating to go from Kabul to living in Waikiki,” he admits. “But they’re all just part of the journey.”
JEREMY DAVIES “Faraday”: With the twitchy delivery of one line — “Rescuing your people, can’t really say it’s our primary objective” — Jeremy Davies manages to send chills down the spines of the survivors of Flight 815 and viewers. The film actor (Saving Private Ryan) has a way with words off screen as well. Take his self-deprecating explanation for joining the show: “The creators of Lost are endowed with some seriously certified, god-size talent. For a misfit like me, an offer to make coffee for those gentlemen is one I’d find terribly difficult to pass up.” Fortunately, producers instead asked Davies to play the mysteriously troubled, intensely intelligent Faraday, who has a proclivity for both island experiments and mumbling. It’s a character Davies, who studies quantum physics for fun, has embraced. “Faraday may be contending with a seismic metamorphosis under the surface. How’s that for enigmatic?”
